Wow it's been a really eventful week around here! On Tuesday we took our first trip to see the lighthouses. Alex of course said he wanted to climb the one you can tour (insert Mom's groans). Luckily he only made it up about 10 steps when he got scared and wanted to come down. It was way more scary than I thought it was going to be! The view from the hill on which the old lighthouse stands was just beautiful though, especially looking out toward the newer lighthouse (1879). An interesting fact we learned - building the Cape Henry lighthouse was the very first action passed by our newly formed government. After touring around the old Cape Henry lighthouse we walked over to the black and white lighthouse which is still in use so it's not open to the public. A short walk from there is a great deck leading to the beach. This beach was full of huge piles of rocks that I assume are for preventing erosion. Of course this lead to a discussion with Alex on what erosion is. We had so much fun that 2 days later we grabbed my friend Dar and we went back for more exploring and photography. This time we saw a horseshoe crab shell and some sort of sea plant that had washed up on the shore. This is in addition to the fabulous shells. So nice to go to a beach that's not been picked over by tourists! LOL The second day Alex had a blast playing hide and seek with us in the big rocks. Mostly he'd just hide and giggle while we were taking pictures LOL.
Other events - storytime, a haircut for Alex, Alex throwing up all over my room, getting 4 layouts picked up for a Memory Makers book, and a fun trip to the park with the neighbors.
Please, someone let me off this ride, I need a rest! LOL
