National Geographic

It's feeling like National Geographic around here lately... or Land of the Birds.. or something. We seem to have a TON of birds this year! And the most exciting part, we had a baby robin in our yard for a few days. Every day we were spending quite a bit of time outside watching the little thing. We learned how to spot if momma was bringing food, we needed to go on the porch and be quiet because she'd only come down if it was safe. And then just a couple days ago.. the birdie found it's way out of the yard and into the big world. We watched it go and wished it good luck! I've also been on the hunt for pictures of this grey bird we see all the time... and come to find out (from a plaque at Jockey's Ridge), it's a Mockingbird! We also have been seeing LOTS of Mr. Cardinal as Alex calls him. Yesterday Bob found Mrs. Cardinal and a nest in a big bush along the side of our house. Haven't gotten a picture yet. Enjoy the pictures of all the bird watching we've been doing!

Oh what a sweet baby bird. Glad you having fun bird watching. Love the cardinals, they are my favorites. We have a nesting pair in our yard too and tell Alex that I call my little red friend Mr. Cardinal too. Great minds think alike.
