First week of school...

***I updated my Picasa program and i can't seem to find the option to embed the album like i used to, could only find slide shows. But click on the slide show and it'll take you to the full size pictures.. sorry!***

Haven't posted much but that's because we've been soooo busy. Daddy's trip got delayed another week.. he should be home this Saturday morning but with Hanna looming.. who knows.

We restarted school from our 2 week break on Monday. It's been a week of adjustments and all kinds of new fun stuff :) Trying to find the best routine and schedule to get everything in along with our household duties.

We started our new history curriculum this week. Started off with a recap of the prehistoric stuff we did over the summer. We did a cave painting in our hallway and Alex sewed his own "game bag". I was so amazed at how well he handled sewing together the bag with a sharp needle.. the boy has learned to do a mean whipstich! Our Waldorf (seasonal) theme this week was squirrels, nuts, fall etc. We played a game today of hide the nuts. We have a bag of assorted nuts still in their shells... I hid them in a room and Alex had to come with his game bag and collect them. He wanted to play that allllll day LOL.

This afternoon after free time we are starting Ancient Egypt and i am soooo excited about that! Also this week we went to the Chrysler Art museum. Alex LOVED it. They had a great set of scavenger questions and pictures to find which made it even more fun. Best part - they have a whole room of Egyptian artifacts including a fabulous sarcophagus!!! It was beyond amazing to be looking at something 4000 years old. And it fit right into our curriculum. SCORE!

Mom and I have a tradition lately of going to Starbucks every Saturday for a frappachino and classic coffee cake. Saturday being "free day" on the Eating for Life plan :) Since Bob has been gone so much Alex has tagged along for the last 4 saturdays and Grandma has enjoyed having him along so much! And he's enjoyed all the Blueberry coffee cake and pumpkin loaf! LOL
