Time to stop waiting...
Lately i've let myself really get caught up in the stress of all the things swirling around me in life. So many trips, tasks, and things to do that i feel like i keep putting my family, my guys, on hold. Especially Alex. I feel like I keep saying.. oh i'll play with him when i'm done with this, or i really should be doing that instead of just being idle with him. Today... as i walked outside to get the mail i realized.. it's a gorgeous day. Why are we sitting inside while i do chores and homeschool planning.. it's time to seize the day. The other things will still be there. But moments with him won't. We did art together. We hung them up in our hallway art museum as he likes to call it. We played our new Scrambled States game. We went outside. I pushed him in the swing for a long time while we sang songs. We watched a grasshopper for a good 10 minutes and talked about his different body parts and what he was doing. We had a good laugh when it startled me and jumped into a tree.We watered the pumpkins (ok pumpkin), grass, and even the house trying out all the different settings on the new sprayer. We played archeologists in the sandbox and pretended that the buried dump trucks were actually different dinosaurs. Tonight after daddy came home the three of us had dinner and played games. And we laughed.. and laughed... and laughed some more. Then Alex requested we go upstairs and have "lots of laughs in the bed". It's something we tend to do in our family... bob and i did it even before Alex came along. Just laying in bed, hanging out, talking and laughing. Now Alex loves doing it too. It was a wonderful day. And yes the Hughes part of me is still in the back of my mind reminding me of all the things i need to stress about and do. But i'm glad that today i let it go and just LIVED, LOVED, and LAUGHED.

So wonderful. That's what Alex will remember about you...not how well you cleaned or what lessons you planned, but the time you spent with him....making fond memories.
Big hugs....and giggles in bed is what we do best too!
