Today a trip to the Arboretum resulted in some very special moments. Alex and I hiked around, got sweaty, talked about plants and "forns" (thorns, though it took me a while to figure out what he was saying LOL). To cool off we sat on a bench overlooking the little stream... Alex looks over and says "Do you want to sing a song?" Sure! So we sang some songs. Then we talked about how we like hanging out together. Alex wanted to know if i'd ever die and leave him. So that sparked a conversation about life, marriage, death, babies and everything in between. Then we sang more songs and i took pictures of him making silly faces. As Alex was looking over the embankment to the water.. he gasps. "I SEE A SNAKE! COOL!!!" Deep breath Mom, deep breath... fight the "Panic and run" feeling you're getting. Calmly and casually i say "Oh really where?" Whew it was luckily down by the water and we were quite a safe distance vertically up from it anyway. We watched it slither around then enter the water and swim downstream. We talked about what group of animals snakes belong to and was able to tie it all into our current science studies about animals. Love it when a plan comes together! LOL
