Last week...

Wednesday we did some errands for dad's birthday. We bought him a huge card from Hallmark that plays the chicken dance song, we stopped in to see Aunt Cyndy while we were in the area. Bought some books at her store and Alex got a lollipop. Alex just loves visiting her. The best part of the day though was going to Krispy Kreme. Daddy's favorite things in the world are donuts. Alex is enthralled with machinery. And i couldn't pry him away from the window into the factory. He would stay there and watch the donuts going through the machines all day. At one point there was a donut that kept getting stuck and rolling back down the conveyor. You'd have thought it was the funniest thing ever.. he kept laughing and laughing.

We went to a Sheep Shearing event Thursday (4/10) at a farm in Surrey (about 1.25 hours from me) put on by our state homeschool organization. We really had a good time. Alex was disappointed, apparently he had been under the impression that HE was going to shear the sheep. LOL! Then we also learned about washing the wool, combing and spinning it, dying it, then weaving it. It was a really neat event. The farm there has a farming museum and Alex LOVED that. He called it "the old scrap". Kept asking me "can we go look at the old scrap again?" Of course the best part of the day for him was the 2 tractor rides we took :) Oh and we had the spookiest fog ever on the way there. This is an area with tons of water so we had to go over many bridges, some quite high. As we went over the first high rise bridge... Alex exclaimed "oh my! we're driving into the sky!!" Literally you could see nothing on either side of the bridge. What was even weirder was that we had some daytime fog on the way home... spoooky! The drive out to the country was just lovely though.. sometimes one wishes one could live out there and enjoy all the fresh air and wide open spaces. But then one remembers how far the nearest Target and grocery store are...
